Attachment Editor provides tools for managing attachment filenames, images, and underlying files directly from content pages and the Admin Control Panel. FAQ:​

• Does permission to rename attachments also allow file replacement?
  Image editing and file replacement also require permission to manage attachments in the associated content. Batch renaming has a separate administrator permission.
  
• Do replacement files still have upload restrictions?
  Yes. Replacements are checked against the applicable file type, size, and image dimension limits. Media Gallery replacements also use its media validation and quota checks.
  
• Why is there no separate Replace file section for some images?
  When the image editor is available, use its Replace image control. The separate file replacement section is shown for attachments without that editor, where replacement is permitted.
  
• Are Media Gallery replacements always available immediately?
  Media that requires transcoding is processed in the background. Further changes are blocked while a replacement is pending.
