FAQ:
Can the same badge be assigned both automatically and manually?
Yes. Administrators and authorized moderators can manually assign an automatic badge. Its configured retention mode still applies to every holder. A conditionally retained badge can be removed when its criteria are no longer met, while a manually removed badge can be awarded again during the next automatic check if the member still meets the criteria.
Can badge owners manage automatically awarded badges?
No. Badge owners are available only for manually awarded badges, preventing owner actions from conflicting with automatic criteria and retention rules.
Will changing a badge's validity period update existing awards?
No. A new validity period applies to future awards and renewal requests. Existing expiry dates remain unchanged unless an administrator or authorized moderator edits an individual assignment.
What happens if a renewal request is pending when the badge expires?
The pending request does not extend the existing term. The badge stops displaying after expiration. If the renewal is later approved, the new term is calculated so applicable remaining valid time is preserved.
Can members see who else has received a badge?
Yes, when they have permission to view badge recipients. The public badge catalog can display the current recipient count and link to a recipient list without exposing members to user groups that lack access.
How is the display order of multiple badges determined?
Badges follow their configured ACP display order. Badges with the same display order use their badge ID as a stable fallback.
Are expired badge assignments deleted?
No. An expired assignment stops displaying as an active badge, but its record remains available for renewal and administrative review. Expiry can also be recorded in badge history when automatic history logging is enabled.
