Does this require the use of the other add-ons? I was under the impression I could use a code for regular upgrades.

It seem like the template was not applied. I edited the template manually and it worked. The template modifications are listed but not in the file itself

What other addons do you have installed that modifies "account_upgrades" template?

These are the ones that apply. The template modifications says it updated, but I don't see the entries in the file which I updated manually.

Does this work after people have cancelled their subscription and it expires? When does the email get sent? I didn't see a cron.

There is no custom cron task here, it follows the standard "Downgrade expired user upgrades" cron job
It triggers on any upgrade expiration, including canceled subscriptions (when the upgrade expires) and manual downgrades

Ah... so I'd need to send the coupon out manually to people if it expired a while back?
