Improve XenForo mentions with context-aware user suggestions and configurable group mentions.

This add-on makes mentioning users faster and more relevant by prioritizing people involved in the current discussion. It also adds managed aliases such as @mods for notifying selected user groups with permissions, limits, and delivery controls.

Group Mention Setup:​

1. Open the Mention groups page in the ACP and create a group mention.
2. Choose an optional Font Awesome icon or custom image, the recipient user groups, and the user groups allowed to send the mention.
3. Grant senders the Mention groups permission and configure a positive Maximum group mention recipients per message value.
4. Configure group mentions and the cooldown in the add-on options.
5. Select a group from the mention suggestions or type its complete alias, such as @mods.

FAQ:​

• Where are contextual mention suggestions available? In threads, conversations, profile posts, and profile post comments. Conversations only suggest users relevant to the conversation and do not include global user results.
• Why does the suggestion list open immediately after typing @? The Empty Mention Lookup option enables suggestions before any username characters are entered. Disable it to show suggestions only after the user starts typing a name.
• How are users ordered in the suggestion list? Exact username matches receive the highest priority. Other results are ranked using the content owner, participants, followed users, previously mentioned users, and activity depending on the current context and configured options.
• Where does the @OP shortcut work? In threads. It resolves to the thread starter when Original Poster Shortcut is enabled. OP is reserved and cannot be used as a group alias.
• Where can group mentions be used? In thread posts. Users can select a group from the mention suggestions or enter its complete configured alias, such as @mods.
• Why can a user see a group but not mention it? The sender must have the Mention groups permission, a positive recipient limit, and belong to one of the group's allowed sender user groups. Group mentions and the individual group must also be enabled.
• What happens if a group alias matches a username? For manually typed mentions, the existing username takes precedence. Selecting a group from the suggestion list explicitly identifies the group.
• Will editing a post send duplicate group alerts? No. Only newly added groups are processed, and each recipient is notified at most once per post even when multiple groups overlap. Removing and re-adding the same group does not send another notification.
• Are recipients checked again before an alert is sent? Yes. Content visibility, sender authorization, group membership, recipient access, ignore settings, and alert preferences are checked before delivery.
• What happens when a group is renamed or deleted? Renamed groups continue to display their current alias. If a group is deleted, existing mentions remain readable but no longer generate notifications.
