Hi,

First, this addon works at the moment only, if you upload images in full size, not as a thumbnail. Would it be possible to make the Exif display also with thumbnails in a future version?

Most of my users use thumbnails (we have bigger thumbnails), because many find this more conveninet to see first as a thumbnail and onl if the like the photo, then they click on fullsize.

Second, would it be possible to display Exif data also for embedded images in a future version?

I use currently XF 2.2.15 only

Yeah, I'll add that option.

This add-on was not designed to retrieve data from external files. But I'll look into it if you're really interested.
PS: This will require enabling XF image proxying.

Hi,

I will probably upgrade my XF forum from 2.2.15 to the newest version 2.3.7 within the next 2 weeks. I check now all addons for compatibility and what changed since the last time we talked.

1. is this addon compatible with XF 2.3.7?
2. Did you add already the option to display Exif data with thumbnails?
3. Did you add already the option to display Exif data with embedded images like Flickr, pbase, smugmug, 500px etc.?

PS: This will require enabling XF image proxying.

4. What is image proxing and how do I enable this in XF2.2.15? Is it this?:

Screenshot_image_proxy.webp

Are there any disadvantages if enabled? (speed, server load etc.)

5. I have several addons from Ozzy. How can I transfer them to you?

Best wishes

1. is this addon compatible with XF 2.3.7?
Yes

2. Did you add already the option to display Exif data with thumbnails?
Yes
New version will be published soon.

3. Did you add already the option to display Exif data with embedded images like Flickr, pbase, smugmug, 500px etc.?
No
This feature requires funding. Contact me via PM for details.

PS: Flickr removes metadata from files and provides access to them only through the API. Pbase It seems to store them only for original files; miniatures do not have EXIF data.

Enabling image proxying increases traffic to your server and takes up file storage space for temporary file storage.

5. I have several addons from Ozzy. How can I transfer them to you?
I added your licenses.

I just deinstalled another image addon for displaying Exif data and installed your addon now. XF 2.3.7

Do I need to run an mysql query so that old images do display the exif information under it?

This add-on includes a rebuild tool to get data from old attachments (if they have not been removed from the attachment files on the server)

It seems that this rebuild tool does not work. I ran it and it does not show the metadata although I can see the Exif data thanks to a firefox plugin called "Exif viewer", if I hoover over the image with my mouse.

Works fine for me

Can you check this by opening the full link of the attachment and adding "/metadata" to the end of the URL?

If the information is available but not displayed in the message, it may be caused by that template modifications are not being applied to your style.

Check if all modifications are applied:
/admin.php?template-modifications/

mmmmhhh....

I upgraded to the service patch 2 now and it still does not work with old images

Like
https://xenbaker.com/attachments/post-png.224/metadata

This results in an error page

exifdata3.webp

But I can see the Exif data with the Exif viewer addon of the firefox browser. So, they are definitely there.

exifdata1.webp

In ACP /admin.php?template-modifications/ it shows this:

exifdata2.webp

You can test it yourself:
